 Social & Therapy Groups

  • Lego Group
    For children ages 7-12. Participants will have the opportunity to build social-communication and cooperative play skills while working on structured lego activities.  Group size:  6-8 participants.  Dates/Times:  4 Tuesdays, 4:15-5:15 p.m. Start date: t.b.a.  Cost:  $100  


  • Self-Regulation - Anxiety Toolbox for Tweens 
    A 4 week group (ages 9-13) to help students learn practical tools to manage anxiety and develop better self-regulation.  Topics will include understanding the reasons for anxiety, learning to recognize anxiety and personal triggers, and will teach tools from both CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Mindfulness principles, as well as Sensory processing components.
    Dates/times: 4  Tuesdays 6:45-8:00 p.m. Start date: t.b.a.  Cost:  $200

Special Interest Groups

  • Pokemon Club

    Group Description:  A monthly social group for children of all ages to chat about Pokemon, share and talk about Pokemon figures, cards, books, etc.  Please contact us for details.   Fee:  $3 /drop-in

  • Caregiver Support Group

    A monthly support group/activity group for parents/caregivers of children on the spectrum and/or with other hidden disabilities.  This group will include information sharing, peer support and social/educational opportunities.

  • Introduction to Executive Functions for teens
    For students aged 11-16 with executive functioning and/or organizational challenges.   Participants will work individually and in small groups on exercises and activities to develop working memory, organization, and focus/attention.   Tools and strategies will be provided to take home. Group will be facilitated by an Occupational Therapist and assistants.  Group size:  4-6 participants. Location: Peterborough.
    Dates/times:  4 Tuesdays 6:45-8:00 p.m. April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, 2019.  Cost:  $200

 

  • Cooking Group for Tweens
    An interactive cooking and social group for youth to increase confidence and independence with meal preparation and healthy eating.  Topics will include meal planning, food prepration, following a recipe, kitchen safety, clean-up, and social aspects of sharing a meal.  Facilitated by an Occupational Therapist.  Location: Ptbo.
    Dates/times:

    Cost: $180  (includes food costs).


  • Music Therapy for Youth
    A 4 week music therapy group for youth, facilitated by a Registered Music Therapist. Music therapy may include hand-held instruments, rhythm activities, and other musical techniques to encourage self-expression, enjoyment and interaction.  Group size:  6-8 participants.  Location:  Peterborough. 
    Cost: $180.  Dates/Times:  t.b.a.
